Malmö to Copenhagen: The 24-Hour Ticket & Timeleft App Hack for a Weeknight Budget Trip

Hello, I'm Yulie!

This summer, I tried the Timeleft app for the first time. I had seen ads for it on Instagram last year, but it was only available in Stockholm at the time. https://timeleft.com/

After creating an account and completing a personality test, the app matches you with a group for dinner at 7 PM on a specified Wednesday evening.

It's fascinating because, for a small fee, the app easily organizes a meal out with new people. Thanks to this, I managed a spontaneous mini-trip involving dinner and a walk in Copenhagen on a weekday evening!

Even better, the last Wednesday of the month offers free admission to several museums in Copenhagen! I thought, "It's a shame to come all this way just to eat," so I squeezed in a museum visit, too.

🚆 Malmö–Copenhagen 24-Hour Travel Ticket (The 300 SEK Hack)

The most budget-friendly ticket for traveling from Malmö to Copenhagen is this 24-hour pass!

  • The price is around 300 SEK (Swedish Krona), or roughly 200 DKK (Danish Krone).

What the ticket covers (The Value):

  • Round trip: Malmö - Copenhagen (including the Öresund Bridge toll).

  • Local Transit: Unlimited use of buses, metros, and trains within the city limits of both Malmö and Copenhagen.

  • Culture: If you time it right, it even covers your travel for free museum visits!

Free entrance to collections and exhibitions, always.

🍽️ Timeleft App: First Impressions

I was a bit nervous since it was my first time using a social gathering app like this, but I was surprised at how relaxed and comfortable the atmosphere was. Meeting people in my age group, sharing a meal, and taking a relaxed walk through Copenhagen felt like a mini-vacation, even though it was just a regular weekday evening.

  • Cost: There is a small fee for the app (it’s not completely free).

  • Benefit: It’s a great way to enjoy a fixed-course meal at a reasonable price, especially if you usually hesitate to try such spots alone.

  • Recommendation: I highly recommend it for travelers looking to meet new people during their trip!

🖼️ Free Museum Day (The Cultural Bonus)

Since the last Wednesday of the month offers free admission to several Copenhagen museums, I immediately added it to my itinerary. I caught an exhibition before dinner and took the train back to Malmö—it was a perfectly curated weekday!

Museums offering free entry on the last Wednesday of the month include:

🌙 Final Review: The Perfect Weekday Mini-Trip

  • Budget Foundation: The 24-hour ticket (300 SEK).

  • Social & Food: Dinner gathering (app fee + meal cost).

  • Culture: Free museum visits.

The evening was incredibly healing just through movement and a casual walk in the summer Copenhagen night. This is a must-try course for anyone living in Malmö, and a great way for Malmö visitors to easily extend their trip to Copenhagen!
