How to survive in the EU while using apps from Meta

Image
I created my first FB account in 2010 in Madrid while I was studying Spanish. During the break, I went downstairs to get some coffee and to use a computer. Right next to me, a guy asked for my FB account. Sadly(?), I didn't have a FB account at that moment. He was like, "Are you a spy or something?!" I was a 20-year-old girl,.. So I created my first FB account. I think I have deleted my FB account 2 or 3 times since then. IG account as well. For some years, even WhatsApp has been run by Meta Group. I use them even if I don't like them (planning to leave soon). I need some group chat, etc. I turned off all app permissions, but I know they have a higher level of something to collect data anyway. Now I am reading news about the collaboration between Meta Group and Ray-Ban,  Meta’s smart glasses. The news talks about the privacy concern as always. https://techcrunch.com/2026/03/05/meta-sued-over-ai-smartglasses-privacy-concerns-after-workers-reviewed-nudity-sex-and-other-...

How to make my cat tired during the day

Image
As I posted last month, my cat is waking me up during the night almost every day... https://yulielog.blogspot.com/2026/01/the-3-am-revolving-is-my-cat-severed.html So my solution was taking him out and making him tired before we went to bed. Seriously, I am not treating him as my baby; he is almost 16 years old now, and I have been his cat servant since 2012. This is a new behavior, and I started suspecting he might have demanthia or something like decreasing sensor ability, etc. However, I couldn't take him out every day because it has been cold, and I didn't want to go out with my cat at night. So, when he starts mewing at night, I use the laser pointer to play with him or open the window for a while, or just feed him more and more and more.   But this morning, strong sunshine entered my place through all the windows I have. It felt like "spring".  Even though I had a pretty unproductive morning with my messy head, I went out with Achilles during the afternoon.   I ...

Living in Malmö Without a Car: Is It Possible?

Image
If you’re thinking about moving to Malmö , one of the first practical questions is: Do you actually need a car? In many countries, having a car feels essential. But Malmö is different. It’s a compact, bike-friendly city with solid public transport and easy access to nearby towns — and even to Copenhagen . So, is living in Malmö without a car realistic? Based on how the city is structured, the short answer is: yes — for many people, it absolutely is. Let’s break it down. Public Transport in Malmö Malmö has an efficient bus network operated by Skånetrafiken. Buses run frequently throughout the city, and most neighborhoods are well connected to the center. There’s no metro system, but because Malmö is relatively small, buses are usually enough. The city also has excellent train connections: Malmö Central Station connects you to other Swedish cities. The Øresund trains make commuting to Copenhagen possible in about 35–40 minutes. A monthly public transport pass typically costs sev...

Why People Live in Malmö and Work in Copenhagen

Image
I live in Malmö and often hear about people commuting to Copenhagen for work. While I haven’t worked in Copenhagen myself, I’ve researched the costs and compared the numbers to understand why this lifestyle appeals to many. At first, it might seem strange — after all, you’re crossing a border every day! But when you compare the costs, it starts to make sense. Copenhagen is beautiful and lively, but it’s also much more expensive. Rent, groceries, and daily expenses can be surprisingly high, and the Danish krone (DKK) is strong compared to the Swedish krona (SEK). Living in Malmö offers more affordable housing, lower grocery bills, and generally a quieter lifestyle — all while still being within commuting distance of Copenhagen’s job market. In this post, I’ll break down the main differences, including cost comparisons, commuting options, and why this cross-border lifestyle works for many people — and who it might be best for. Is Malmö Cheaper Than Copenhagen? When comparing cities, hou...

When Feelings Become Data

Image
I used to be a drama queen, especially in my twenties—maybe it’s because I spent that decade in Madrid, and Madrid just has its own vibe.  I started using dating apps at 27, and since then, I haven’t met a single guy outside of them. Now, without any apps, I’ve started wondering how I even met people before—they were usually at pubs or bars, in my case. But I live in Sweden, so I don't go out for a drink that often. I go to Systembolaget... Looking back, I realize that all those experiences—breakups, being broke, having little to no social life, being ghosted, scammed online, rejected by men, navigating situationships—have hardened me. I can’t be the drama queen I once was. Those kinds of experiences have made me, well… a little insensitive, and honestly, I think I should be even more insensitive. I saw this traffic light when I was out eating with a foodie group last year, and I thought it was like a dating life.  https://umamigrill.se/malmo/ Green light: I want more, ...
