My Winter Fitness Exploration List
Hello everyone, I'm Yulie!
While I've been slowly integrating running and cycling into my daily life, it's still hard to say that movement has become a perfect, non-negotiable habit. So, lately, I’ve shifted my mindset from 'I must be good at this' to 'I want to try this new thing, one by one.'
Past Experience & Current Challenge (Sweden Life)
I used to be involved in group fitness classes at a Swedish gym for about two years:
BodyPump: Once a week. I was definitely the "light" one among the women in Northern Europe lifting tens of kilograms of dumbbells!
BodyBalance/Pilates: Once a week.
Since June this year, I stopped going to the gym. Now, I'm contemplating how to restart strength training. Since I don't have equipment at home, I can't use the routines that require heavy gym gear.
As winter approaches, the need to find new indoor movement routines has become even more pressing. This led me to explore Wall Pilates—it uses the wall to stimulate muscles and improve balance, making it perfect for an equipment-free home environment.
My Winter Exploration List (Habit Building Goals)
Instead of rigid planning, these are the habits I want to slowly, consistently explore:
Wall Pilates Challenge (2 Weeks): Follow an app-based plan every day for 14 days.
Gradually Increasing Running Distance: Attempting a specific plan found within the Nike Running App to incrementally increase my endurance.
Mapping New Malmö Walking Routes: While walking is simple, I usually stick to the same local paths. My goal is to intentionally explore new routes within the city—it’s not a workout, but it keeps the movement fresh.
Skiing: I have never skied in my life! I want to try this Swedish winter activity at least once.
For the time being, I plan to slowly try each item on this list, one at a time!
Thank you for reading.
